A role play about Kachin traditional beliefs during PLA workshop

Last week on Jan 21st to 25th, to interact and cooperate with communities easier, a short term training of PLA (Participatory, Learning and Action) was conducted at TPC (Teaching Preparation Centre) in Mae Pa.

Some topics and tools were introduced during the workshop and they were Community Mapping, Educaiton Mapping, Community Walk, Focus Group Meeting and Body mapping tools.

One Shan participant said, “before I delivered trainings and cooperated together with communities. But, I didn’t know that there’s a relation with the philosophy of PLA. After this PLA training, I perceived clear understanding that firstly I needed to build relationship with the local community. Then, i began to understand clearly the philosophy of PLA which was people had to encourage, support them to be able to participate and empower them to make their decisions, to have potentials, opportunities and rights.

This trainings was conducted by two facilitators from a Thai NGO based in Chiang Mai and there were 68 multi-ethnic participants at the trainings.
